Why doesn’t the work dwindle if I’m busy all day every day? Have you ever noticed that the more you do, the more you need to do? What is that? Sometimes I call it being productive. Other times I call it tiring. But there’s one thing I always call it-an honor! Remember the days when you didn’t know what you were gonna do next? Maybe, that’s the spot you're in now! If you are, just put one foot in front of the other and do everything you can in the moment you’re in. You will get the benefits if you don’t give up.  After a busy week dealing with work issues, dealing with my own issues (yes, I have a couple-haha), facing new opportunities and seeing growth and caring for other’s issues, I realize I’m all three! Productive, tired and honored all at the same time! Make sense? In the course of a day or week, our perspective can have a view from all three places. Being busy doesn’t last always, but it can, if we handle our times and opportunities like they don’t matter. The Bible tells us to make the most of every opportunity. Seize the day!  Love you guys. . . Pastor Paul

We  are welcoming  our  Masters  Commission students this week!  What is Masters Commission?  It is our nine month, hands on discipleship training ground for ages 18 to 30, where we provide a balanced growth environment to develop and equip the whole life of our students. Masters Commission is far more than a program.  It is a lifestyle, a total commitment, and a time where students are taught Godly disciplines and are given opportunities in ministry.  They minister in schools, churches, outreaches and the community as they adopt a block of homes to serve and love on for the 9 months they are here.  We would love your involvement in our program and in the lives of our students.  For further information, please call the MC office (located in the Alliance Ministry Center) at 269-926-6505. I love you all and am excited about this year and all it holds! Pastor Paul

It’s true that if you can’t actively see something  other  than  your  present circumstance, all you’ll ever get is what you see.  Some people say, “Well, I have to think about my circumstances.  I have to think my way out of them!”  And I would say yes, you have a point there.  We have to be strategic when we’re thinking about the problems of life.  However, when that thought process gives way to worry then we’ve just stepped over into thinking about something we can’t do anything about.  There is a fine balance.  When I start playing the  servant  and  begin  to  worry  in  any  form, I’ve  just  become  a workhorse.  Thoughts are options, they’re not mandates.  I don’t have to think on everything that comes through my mind.  In fact, I make it my job  to  stand  like  a  soldier  and  actively  choose  the  positive.  Why?  Because we don’t work for circumstances.  Circumstances work for us.  They’re there to purify us, clarify our walk, and teach us a thing or two about  who  we  are,  not  who  we  think  we  are,  who  we  truly  are.  Circumstances are only an opportunity to grow or give up.  What’s it gonna be?  Our response to crisis and worry define us in a way that is integral to our making headway in this life.  If there’s one thing I know about life, it’s that it doesn’t often stay exactly the same.  There’s always something  new  to  tackle,  always  something  new  to  learn.  If  I  can encourage you to do one thing, it would be to NOT think about things that make you feel insecure, that takes the praise right out of you and there is just no need for that.  I love you!  Pastor Paul

God is a good God and I believe He wants to display His goodness to us.  I ask you to lay aside all the fears, worries, and condemnation that this last week has tried to entangle you with and join us as we give our God the praise He so deserves.  Today God has prepared a word just for you, so open up your heart, mind and soul to receive that word.  May the peace and joy that comes from spending time in the presence of God bless your hearts today.  Please listen to the sermon on our website, you will not want to miss it!  I love you!

Hi! I am Pastor Phil Hahn, the Children’s Pastor at First Assembly here to greet you today.  Why do we go to church?  If it was to worship God and fellowship with believers in Christ, you are right.  But, you have a choice to make.  God has prepared something specific to speak to you today.  You can choose to come with your heart open, ready to receive whatever God wants to do in you, or you can come expecting nothing and walk out the same as you were when you walked in.  So, why did you come to church?  Repeat after me. . .“God my heart is open.  Pour in whatever you want.  I am willing to receive anything you want to tell me.  I’m walking out of here different than when I walked in.”  May you expect and receive everything God has prepared to draw you closer to Him this morning.  God bless you and have a great week!

It’s a good thing that God doesn’t consult our past to determine our future.  I am so thankful for that.  Wouldn’t that be awful?  If He did, even Abraham’s family background that included serving strange gods (Joshua 24:2) would have kept him from becoming the father of the Jewish nation.  God chose Abraham and his descendants to fulfill His purpose and design despite their heathen past, and He does the same in our lives.  Opening the door to our future requires shutting the door to our past. God promised He was going to bless Abraham, make his name great and establish a nation through his offspring, but Abraham failed to first leave his “kindred” as God instructed.  He needed to make a break, settle and let go of the past for the ability to grasp the future.  Sometimes the hardest thing is to let go of the past.  It can seem almost impossible to break free from people, places or even traditions that we know hold us back from the life God has for us.  The past can seem so present and the future so unreachable.  Fear of the unknown can also be a huge obstacle, “If I let go of this, then where will I be?”.  Too many times we try to hang on to both the past and the future but straddling that fence can ruin a person.  Know that if God is calling you from one thing or out of one thing, then He is taking you into something else.  He is a progressive God.  He is faithful to do exceedingly and abundantly above all you or I could ask or think.  It is time to lay the blame down, lay the past down and trust anew, believe anew.  Start moving toward those who are walking in truth and moving toward the same destiny you believe God is calling you to pursue.  Trust God to strategically align your life with the  right  people  so  that  you  might  move  fully  into  the  destiny  He designed for you!

Love you guys!

Today we are celebrating fathers.  Dad’s sometimes get taken for granted for being the anchors in the family, so much so that you may not think about the importance of Dad in your life.  You may not take them as sentimental types because they keep it undercover.  Dad is that rock - the one you go to when you’re in trouble, when you need money, or even if you need a little advice.  The bond we form with our dads is different than the one we form with our moms.  Dad’s are usually  more   physical,  so  you  may have  memories  of  times  spent  together, rough-housing, (which I’m sure Mom didn’t approve of), exercising or playing outdoors.  He may have been the coach of your ball team.  Possibly you worked on projects together while talking about something serious.  Or you may  have  a  Dad  who’s  a  jokester,  and  while  carrying  the  load of providing for the family, still seems to let everything roll off his shoulders.  Whatever the personality of your dad, he is to be thanked again and again for what he does each and every day for you and your family.  Maybe today, like me, this day is a bitter-sweet one for you.  I had a great dad, he’s passed away now, but I still celebrate him on this day.  Whatever your memories, good or not so good, take it upon yourself to celebrate the Father who never fails and who loves us unconditionally.  As we worship this morning, lift your heart and your hands and smile knowing that through all things, God has held you and gives you  life  everlasting!  To  all  you  Fathers  today, we  love  and  appreciate you!  For all you do and all you are, we say “Thank You”!

Talk to you guys later. . . .

Congratulations Class of 2010!  We  want  you  to  know that  we  are  extremely  proud of  you  and  what  you  have accomplished up to this point in your life.  Now, will come the challenge  of  preparing  for college and for some, a step into a new career.  My personal feeling  is  that  you  are  the generation that will have the greatest impact on the future of this nation.  You will face tremendous challenges, but in every one of those challenges, if you will remain faithful to Him, He will bring you through victoriously!  What an awesome God we serve!  He loves us so much and wants the very best for our lives. . .can you even fathom it?  We were honored to have Spencer Jones with us this weekend.  Rev.  Jones  is  a  friend,  a  brother  and  a dedicated warrior in the Kingdom of God .  God has placed a vision in his heart to reach the lost at any cost and I know God gave him a word for all of us.  I love each of you and pray that God will bless your day and your week!
